This is a continuation of the article first published in the May 2026 Edition of Christlife, where I wrote that, across Australia, Marist Youth Ministry is enriched by the generosity, faith and energy of young adults who step forward to accompany the next generation of Marists. Our Regional Assistants are more than event facilitators or ministry leaders, they are witnesses to Christ life within their communities, bringing their own gifts, experiences and stories to our mission of making Jesus Christ known and loved. Each has been shaped in unique ways through the Marist story, and each now offers that same spirit to the students and young adults they encounter through Game Changers, Connect Nights, retreats and formation experiences. The following profiles offer a glimpse into the lives, passions and faith journeys of the young adults who make up our MYM team in 2026.
ISABEL FORD – VIC
A 2025 graduate of La Valla Catholic College, Isabel Ford brings a deep sense of gratitude and enthusiasm to Marist Youth Ministry. The Marist characteristic of Love of Work resonates strongly with her, grounding her in appreciation for the opportunities she has received through school, faith and community. Isabel was inspired into ministry through the witness of former Regional Assistants, mentors and her experiences within Game Changers, particularly the Year 10 La Valla camp. Through MYM, she hopes to foster in students the same sense of belonging, connection and gratitude that shaped her own journey. Isabel is currently studying at Monash University and is actively involved in university clubs and leadership initiatives. She also enjoys reading and bushwalking with her sister.
CECELIA DAVIES – VIC
Cecelia Davies is a graduate of Assumption College whose passion for MYM grew through her extensive involvement in Game Changers, Marist leadership programs and immersion experiences. During her time at school, Cecelia participated in the Timor- Leste immersion, attended leadership camps, Connect Nights and the La Valla Game Changers camp, while also volunteering with the Exodus Community. These experiences deepened both her faith and her sense of connection to the wider Marist family. Now studying Professional Communication and Advertising at RMIT University, Cecelia hopes to help students encounter the same experiences of belonging, faith and leadership that shaped her own life.
MADALYN PETRUZZELLA – SA
Madalyn Petruzzella’s involvement with MYM began through the Game Changers program at Sacred Heart College, where she immersed herself in retreats, Connect Nights, volunteering opportunities and leadership experiences throughout her schooling years. Her faith journey was also shaped through the example of her two older sisters, who both served with the Remar Ministry Team. A particularly transformative experience for Madalyn was participating in a Fiji immersion in 2023, which strengthened her desire to accompany and support young people. Alongside MYM, Madalyn works as both a student tutor and dance teacher, bringing warmth, creativity and compassion to her ministry with young people.
SANDRA GUSTAK – WA
Sandra Gustak brings a deep commitment to Catholic faith, youth ministry and pastoral care to her work within MYM. A former Ministry Captain at St Joseph’s School, Northam, Sandra’s passion for accompanying young people was shaped through leadership in liturgies, prayer life and student formation initiatives. Currently studying Psychology, she hopes to eventually become a Religion and Psychology teacher within Catholic education. Sandra is especially inspired by the Marist values of Presence, Simplicity and Love of Work, and hopes to create spaces where young people feel welcomed, supported and encouraged in their faith journey. Her extensive experience working with children and young people through the Kukułeczka Polish Dance Group and other roles has strengthened her skills in leadership, organisation and pastoral care.
