Melbourne Marists Celebrate Champagnat Day in Style!
Thank you all for joining us to celebrate Champagnat Day at The Shed, Exodus House, Heidelberg West last night. It was a wonderful gathering of Marists young and old. Our sincere thanks go to Brs Barry Lamb and Doug Walsh, Cassie Wilmot and Jack Stammers for organising this event.
The Shed was decorated with streamers and balloons, the food was delicious and there was even a large chocolate cake to celebrate the Bicentenary. Thank you Br Michael Herry and team for your wonderful music – it certainly enhanced our prayers. The singing of the Sub Tuum was a real highlight of the evening.
Br Barry gave a short reflection on St Marcellin, telling us three stories from his life, and then read a letter from Father Champagnat, addressed to us, wishing the Marist Association well. We sincerely thank you Br Barry, for presenting all present with a personal copy of this letter, together with a beautifully inscribed, hand-drawn card.
The gathering ended with members packing bread in readiness for the Exodus Bread Run the following day.
So, to all who helped, attended and participated - thank you – what a great team effort! This was indeed a feast day celebration to remember.
