The Marist Association warmly congratulates Ross Tarlinton OAM on being named the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Br Kelvin Canavan Catholic School Leadership Award, presented by Catholic Schools NSW.

Currently serving as Acting Executive Director of Brisbane Catholic Education, Ross has devoted his professional life to Catholic education and to nurturing communities where young people can flourish in faith, learning and service. This significant honour recognises his outstanding contribution to educational leadership and his unwavering commitment to the mission of Catholic schools.

Established by Catholic Schools NSW, the Br Kelvin Canavan Catholic School Leadership Award celebrates exceptional educational administrators who demonstrate exemplary faith, discipleship and a commitment to the growth and support of others. It is fitting that Ross should receive an award bearing the name of Br Kelvin, another respected member of the Marist Association and former Executive Director of Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Sydney from 1987 to 2009.

Reflecting on the honour, Ross said:

'I am somewhat humbled by this recognition, especially given the contributions of so many leaders in Catholic education across NSW. Receiving the award from Br Kelvin is especially significant for me, given my decades-long association with him and his extraordinary support, both personally and professionally, over the years.'

Throughout his distinguished career as a teacher, principal, regional director and system leader, Ross has exemplified the values at the heart of Catholic education: servant leadership, professional excellence and a deep commitment to the dignity and development of every person. The Marist Association is proud to count Ross among its members and rejoices in this well-deserved recognition of his leadership, vision and service.
