On 24 March 2026, Marist Association Leader Br Darren Burge welcomed participants to an online gathering and officially launched the new Pastoral Plan. He expressed his hope that all Members would “see themselves in it and identify things they strongly resonate with.” Br Darren acknowledged that some aspects of the Plan may challenge us, while others will inspire deeper engagement and action. He encouraged all Members to approach the Plan prayerfully, allowing it to shape both personal reflection and communal commitment.
Executive Director Richard Quinn then provided an overview of how the Plan came to life—beginning with the spiritual conversations at National Assembly IV and continuing through AI-assisted summaries, professional editing, contributions from the writers’ group, and final approval by the Marist Association Council.
Richard introduced Deputy Leader, Julia Lederwasch, who read the newly crafted Vision Statement. This was followed by Association Councillor Jasmine Brown, who offered a concise and contemplative overview of the six Priority Areas that form the heart of the Plan.
Adding to the sense of momentum, Br Michael Callinan shared enthusiastic feedback from the recent Local Coordinator Forums held in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, noting a strong sense of engagement and readiness.
In closing, Br Darren commended the Pastoral Plan to all Members, affirming that the title “Pastoral” reflects the essence of the Marist Family Spirit—a spirit of compassion, presence, and shared mission.
