The funeral of Br Doug Walsh, held at Heidelberg West Parish Church on Friday 16 January, was a significant - and momentous - occasion. The Church was overflowing, with many people having to stand at the back, and taking seats in the foyer. The Church Hall could not contain the numbers present!

However, in testament to the man himself, and the example of his life fully lived, there was much joy, companionship and shared recollections and stories. Those who attended were privileged to hear the beautiful Eulogies prepared by Doug’s twin sister, Maureen Caldow, his niece, Polly Caldow, and, representing the Province, Br Tony Clark.

Many people requested copies of these wonderful testaments, and we are deeply grateful to Maureen and Polly for generously offering their stories of Doug the brother and uncle, and to Br Tony, for his words on Doug the Marist Brother. We hope you enjoy reading them. They are warm, inspirational and very funny!

Doug’s final wish at his funeral was that we all offer one act of kindness to someone. Please also feel free to do so!
