Melbourne Marist Think Tank at the Brothers’ Community, Templestowe

On Tuesday 22nd March, the Local Melbourne Marist Association held a ‘Marist Think Tank’ Gathering at the Brothers’ Community, Templestowe. As it was such a pleasant evening we were able to enjoy our meal outside – all gathered around the tables! Our sincere thanks go to Brother John, Brother Peter and the rest of the community for their wonderful hospitality.

Brother John led us in a process of contemplation on the question ‘Aware of Br Emili’s document:  Gratitude, Forgiveness, Commitment, as a Marist, what is on your mind now?’ The feedback from the small group discussions, clearly indicated that there is plenty to be grateful for and that there is much we can and could commit to as we move forward as an Association. Opportunities like this are important as they encourage us to keep thinking about and planning for the future as well as sharing what we have and hope to achieve as members.

As you would be aware the General Chapter of the Marist Brothers is being held in September this year. The Chapter sets the vision and priorities for the Institute for the next eight years. Joe McCarthy briefly outlined the process for how Marists across Australia can be involved in the 'Pre-Chapter Process'. Those who were interested in being part of this process were asked to ‘sign up’ so that a working group could begin the process here in Melbourne.

This was also an opportunity to welcome Robyn and Peter White as our newest Members of the Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat.
